9: Ignacia Lozano: Connected

I stumbled upon this image on the website of Spiral Magazine - a compelling art mag. It's a photograph by artist Ignacio Lozano entitled Connected. Lozano is infamously known in the homosexual art world as an accomplished painter, and more keenly, photographer.

With a fondness of non-artificial photographing (i.e. use of natural lights, out-of-studio settings), Lozano's work has an honest depiction of real life contexts highlighted with blatant homoerotic motifs.

This particular image compelled me primarily due to the interesting use of, Connex, as a medium to clothe the nude figure. Prescribed with the genre of "construction portraits," I draw an allusion to the fusion of sculpture, architecture, and portrait photo. "Connected" serves as an example of a new interesting style, combined with an equally interesting aesthetic of subject matter that I can appreciate. Enjoy!
